Meetings are normally held the third Monday of every month in the Wistaria Room at the Sierra Madre Recreation Center. Meetings regularly start at 7:00 PM and go for 1 to 2 hours, depending on what activities are scheduled. Scheduled events are subject to change or cancellation, so please check this page for periodic updates. Also check the News Flash page for any last minute changes.
Currently, meetings are scheduled for Dec. 17, 2007, Jan. 21, 2008, Feb. 18, 2008, and Mar. 17, 2008. The topic of the Dec. 17 meeting is to select special topics for the 2008 meetings.
The Rec. Center is located at 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd. in the city of Sierra Madre. It's the two story brick building in front of Sierra Vista Park. (See below for a map.) Enter through the front glass door and walk straight ahead.
We are currently trying to secure our own flying field. Until that happens, we will be flying with the SCRA at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area. While the SCRA allows anyone to fly with them at no charge, there is an entrance fee to the park (currently $8.00 per vehicle). Also, children under 14 who wish to fly, must be accompanied by an adult. Please visit the SCRA web site for their launch schedule and a directions to the launch site. Also be certain to familiarize yourself with their rules and don't forget to download a copy of their flight card, as you'll need to fill one out for each flight.
