Want to join our team? Great! You'll have a fun time and learn a lot while you're at it. Signing up is easy. Just print out the membership application, fill in the appropriate section and bring it with you, along with your membership dues, to one of our meetings. (Sorry, but we are not able to accept membership applications at launches held in the Santa Fe Dam area.) We try to keep membership affordable to encourage participation, especially by families and kids. (Please note that SMART and the NAR are non-profit organizations. Your membership dues go directly to funding club activities for your benefit.) Also, be certain to read our by-laws and safety guidelines. If you have any questions, please contact us.
There are three categories of membership, Youth, Junior, and Senior. There is
also a discount for families.
Annual membership for each category is as follows:
Youth (ages 9 and younger) - $5.00
Junior (ages 10 through 17) - $10.00
Senior (ages 18 and older) - $20.00
Family (2 adults and all minors in the same household) - $30.00
In order to keep the accounting simple, SMART membership is annual and spans the
entire calendar year (Jan. 1 through Dec. 31). Dues for current members are to
be paid by January 1st. For new members, membership dues are pro rated as follows:
Jan. 1 through Mar. 31: 100% of annual dues
Apr. 1 through Jun. 31: 75% of annual dues
Jul. 1 through Sep. 30: 50% of annual dues
Oct. 1 through Dec. 31: 25% of annual dues
While it is not required that you be a member of the National Association of
Rocketry (NAR) to be a member of SMART, it is highly encouraged. As a member
of the NAR you will be covered under their insurance policy at all club events,
be eligible to participate in NAR programs and competitions, and it comes with a
subscription to Sport Rocketry magazine.
